Thankful Thursday: A new story

It's a little iPhone action fuzzy, but I hope you get the idea.
Last week, I lost sleep over a crib jail break situation. This week, I'm grateful for all the new stories after we converted the crib to this toddler bed arrangement. If he's missing, I know where to look after I saw this.

I also wanted to thank Lara Schiffbauer at Motivation for Creation for giving me the Dream Launcher and Sunshine Awards. Her posts are always fun and helpful. In her awards post, she shared the "most important thing that happened to me this year." She shared a critique experience at a conference that influenced her self-esteem as a writer.

Plus, I discovered we both have Viszlas. Her Viszla in Raymi.

Ours is Mauly — as in Mauly Bones.

Mauly points at cats and deer. She's supposed to point at birds.
Now that I've mentioned my kid and dog, I believe this officially falls into that note in my posting schedule: "Sometimes, life in general sneaks into a post."

  2. Your dog is super cute, but your kid is cuter.

    Congrats on the awards!

  3. I remember well the first day I put our daughter (now in college) down for her nap in her big girl bed. I was busy working on the computer and about jumped out of my skin when she walked in to see me. I had to adjust to her new-found independence. Ah. Memories.

    Congratulations on your awards!

    1. Keli, At a MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) meeting I shared how we have a babygate at his door. Another mom said, "Why didn't I think of that?" I'm sure I heard about it from someone else. I'm all about safe baby containment. We use the college rallying cry for lots of stuff as in "well, he won't be doing that in college." We hope. Fun memories in the making around our house.

  5. The only thing we can count on is change! Love the pics--and your dog is adorable! I've never heard of that kind before.

    1. Debbie, very true about change. Mauly's very popular with pheasant hunters in Iowa — or the ones my husband knows anyway.

  6. Love that Maury point to what he wants to point at instead of what he's supposed to point at! And congrats on the graduation from crib to toddler bed. Momentous moment!

    1. Janet, The first night went well, because he refused to nap during the day and was exhausted.

  7. Love Enzo's bed -- very creative furniture for children to help them ease into a big bed. And, loved the picture of Enzo -- so cute. What a great dog. How is he with Enzo? He's so big.

    1. Pat, Many cribs convert to a toddler bed. Mauly and Enzo. Well, sometimes it works better than others. She is big, but gentle.

  8. Dogs & kids are always good to see. I love the bed & my daughter would like it too. Her daughter kept jumping out of the crib, much like yours, but no adjustment possibility, so they had to relinquish the crib for a bed that can be left any time. You know what I mean! Congrats on your awards, Stacey!

    1. Linda, I do use a baby gate in his room's doorway to help contain him or delay his march around the house when he should be sleeping.

    1. Leigh, the iPhone sometimes can't catch his fast action, but generally can capture the moment.

  11. That is a super-neat bed, and Enzo is sure cute, too! Mauly is beautiful! In her youth, Raymi killed birds, but now only points at the treat she wants from me :)

    1. Nina, I can't take credit for the bedding. Hubby bought that as a surprise for me before we knew boy or girl and it was perfect.
